Half an hour? I'd be lucky if I spent 6 hours on something and it looked half as good.
I should practice more, do some speed drawings. It's just so irritating using a laptop with Vista hogging all the memory and then trying to load up Photoshop or Painter on top of it. Stupid Vista.
Anyway, sorry, I'm off on a tangent. It's a great piece and has a great personality to it. I approve.
Yeah, I used to do that, but now I just can't get motivated to make quick, crappy practice drawings anymore. I think I'm losing my passion for art, sadly. Or maybe I just need some prozac.
I didn't know what kind of colorblind you were (my dad's colorblind and can see blues and greens, I think?). I hoped if I used the whole spectrum, something might be able to come across.
I recommend a Bamboo if don't already have a tablet you're extremely happy with... I mean, I like my Bamboo a bit better than my Intuos 2, but I wouldn't have gotten it if I hadn't forgotten my stylus at work one weekend.
So you're a CARRIER! Colourblindness is a recessive gene on the X chromosome, and often only has a chance of power if a person has a shorter Y chromosome without the extended genetic area to counteract the recessive gene with a normal vision dominant gene, i.e., is a man. Women can be colourblind, but verrrrry rarely, and for that, they have to have both parents carriers of the recessive gene and an already colourblind father.
When people say they're colourblind, that doesn't mean they see in black and white - just, their perception of colours is messed up. I did a dissertation on this and its influences on art creation for my IB Programme Visual Arts course. >.> In my particular case, my retina lacks cones for red pigmentation, which means I see anything with blue and green in it more brightly, and red more faintly. For this reason, I have never been able to see or recognize purple. Can't tell the difference between peach and cream. They're both yellowy! And, worst of all, a lot of reds look brown or green or black. Spring and Fall are often the same, in my eyes, which is sad... Though, if something is *blatently* red, as in, torro torro, or traffic lights, I'll be able to see it.
So I can see a full spectrum of colours, they're just a somewhat shifted inaccurate spectrum. As a result, people have been asking me during painting classes why my skies are purple, why my mountains are green and why the grass is brown. Don't even get me started on hair and skin on portraits, it's awful. The worst comment I've ever had was, "that's not terra cotta, it's diarrhoea!" XPP
So, often, I have some kind of aide with normal vision to help me pick out my tones! (you know, tunes that you see. )
And yes, I LOVE eyebrow drawing. Though for some reason, on furry characters I almost always start with the nose or muzzle. I have a tablet, but it's a really cheap tiny no-brand hand-me-down after my uncle realised it was too crap for the work he wanted it for. :/

The butter legion- a socialist movement/mass colab project I started, to trigger artistic change and evolution in Da artists (mainly my watchers), to make them more active and dedicated on DA. Hello there! This news article is the result of a thumb share thread I posted few days ago on the dA forum along with pictures from my favorites. I hope you enjoy them.

Thank you for your approval.
WhatdoIdo, whatdoIdo, whatdoIdo. This is incredible, I'm astonished! You've got me and Jo to a tee. The eyebrows WIN.
You make me wish I was not colourblind, then I'd be able to try things like this too. I play safe by sticking to grayscale and labelled swatches...
Oh, and you've totally sold me a Wacom Bamboo

Eyebrows are one of my favorite things to draw.
